The Peak District has some fantastic mountain biking, with the Dark Peak in particular offering truly world-class riding. Find the best mountain bike trails, routes and rides in the Dark Peak with this comprehensive guide.
The hills of northern Derbyshire are criss-crossed with ancient roads and flowing moorland singletrack. Fabulous descents come in all varieties: fast, loose, rocky, rutted and rooty, and The Peak District has a fierce collection of climbs: uphill slogs, loose uphill slogs, technical, oose and rocky uphill slogs, most, thankfully, within easy reach of refuelling at local cafs and pubs.
Dark Peak Mountain Biking from Vertebrate Publishing features 26 challenging and exciting routes, each lavishly illustrated with detailed maps and photography by John Houlihan and Andy Heading. The routes have been devised and tested by local riders to help you get the very best out of the Dark Peak trails.

Dark Peak MB - Bradwell Circuit
A great ride on the southern side of the Hope Valley. Although just fitting onto the Dark Peak map, this route is mainly on limestone, so prepare yourself for a little less grip on the rocks beneath your tyres.
