A Truly Gripping Comic Book...
We have the last few copies of the critically acclaimed rock climbing comic book, published by Vertebrate Graphics in 1996.
When november came out it caused quite a stir in the various cliques, scenes and climbing strongholds around the world. On one level it was very definitely an honest and gritty account of life in the Sheffield climbing scene of the late 20th century: admittedly cliquey, yet passionate about climbing. But on a broader level it gave a strong social comment on what was the rebirth from urban decay in the North of England: expression of youth through outdoor activity, the environment and society in its narrow, rain soaked, November days.
Climbers around the world loved the story - a graphic novel, or comic if you like - it was nominated for the big prize at Banff, won the 1996 Mountain Literature award at the Llandudno Mountain Literature Festival and significantly was disqualified from entering the Boardman Tasker for being, well, too ‘light’.
The secret of November is its characters; look hard enough and we are all in there, climbing the cliffs, hanging on.

Only the last few copies remain...

“A novel and intriguing...glimpse into the weirdly introspective climbing scene. It's great to see the comic book genre being used in this way...let's hope there's more to follow.”
